This episode is a preview of the 18th Annual Heritage Music BluesFest to be held in Wheeling West Virginia August 10-12th. This show is just to give you a taste of what’s to come for the festival and the great lineup that Bruce Wheeler has put together. Of course, it’s incredibly difficult to pick a single song from each artist, but here we go….
Heather Newman, “Willie James”, Burn Me Alive
First Set – Friday August 10th
Rick Estrin & the Nightcats, “The Blues Ain’t Going Nowhere”, Groovin’ In Greaseland
The Reverend Payton’s Big Damn Band, “Boom Chank”, Big Damn Nation
Delbert McClinton, “B Movie Boxcar Blues”, Live From Austin
– Saturday August 11th
Miss Freddye, “Use The Back Door”, Lady Of The Blues
Eden Brent, “In Love With Your Wallet”, Ain’t Got No Troubles
The Keesha Pratt Band, “Have A Good Time Y’all”, Believe
Southern Avenue, “80 Mile From Memphis”, Self-Titled
Southern Hospitality, “Southern Livin’”, Easy Livin’
Third Set – Sunday August 12th
Kevin “BF” Burt, “I’m Bustin’ Out”, Startin' Somethin' Live At Checkers Tavern
Ghost Town Blues Band, “One More Whisky”, Backstage Pass
Monster Mike Welch and Michael Ledbetter, “Cry For Me Baby”, Right Place, Right Time
Eric Gales, “I Ain’t No Shrink”, Layin’ Down The Blues
Apologies to Felix Slim, The Paul DesLauriers Band, and Mindi Abair & the Boneshakers. There are 16 great bands in the lineup on the main stage and I only have around 13 song slots for my hour long show.
Thanks to Bruce Wheeler and his family! And while you’re there, be sure to thank the other volunteers working the festival!
See you in Wheeling!
