This is show #91, Love in the Blues!
Welcome to another BluzNdaBlood Show! This is your bluesman Dave Harrison coming at you from the Star City of Virginia… Well, this show is another great one and will be the traditional show I have for this Valentine’s time of the year! This show is “Love in the Blues!” Each tune that I’ve selected for today’s show has “love” in the title!
So, who else is on our Love List for the show? Well, how about The Billy Gibson Band with “What Is Love” from their Inside Sounds self-titled CD. After Billy, we’ll hear Janiva Magness belting out “That’s What Love Will Make You Do” off of her Alligator Records release, What Love Will Do. Delmark Records artist Quintus McCormick cranks it up with his “Hot Lovin’ Woman” tune from his 2009 Hey Jodie! CD. West coast harpist Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers follow up with “I’m a Love You” which is found on their Delta Groove Music CD called, For The Chosen Who. Our Superhero Candye Kane then leads us into the very creative song of hers called “Ik Hou Van Je (I Love You)” which can be found on the super Delta Groove Music CD Superhero! After Candye, Deanna Bogart, Dan Leonard, Scott Ambush, and Mike Aubin have us swaying and singing to their song “Love and Attention” found on their Vista Records CD, 11th Hour. Tommy Castro helps Deanna out with that tune then immediately gets us groovin’ with his “Love Don’t Care” song off of his 2007 Blind Pig Records CD, Painkiller. Eclecto Groove artist Mike Zito then plays “Love Like This” that’s on his 2008 CD, Today. The beautiful Aussie Anni Piper then sings “Mystery of Love” from her Black Market Music CD called Texas Hold ‘Em. Jimmy Johnson then tells us like it is with his “You Don’t Know What Love Is” that’s found on the great Delmark Records CD It Ain’t Over. Recent IBC winner Grady “Baby Rush” Champion growls through his tune “1-800-Blu-Love” off of his Back in Mississippi Live CD. Last back not least, Lil’ Dave Thompson wraps up the “Love In the Blues” show with his tune called “I Need Your Love” that’s on his great CD, Deep In The Night.
Until next time, this is Dave Harrison, reminding you to keep the blues alive and keep the blues in the blood!
