This is show #71, Blue Ribbon Blues!
Welcome back, my friends! It’s that time of year again when everyone gathers in Memphis TN and hears who wins the annual Blues Music Awards! And as tradition has it, I normally do a show highlighting just a few of the artists that have been nominated! It’s always tough to pick what tunes to play! But I did the best I could! So are you ready to hear some Blue Ribbon Blues? I hope so! Crank it up my friends, we’re off and running!
Well, we started off the show with The Homemade Jamz Blues Band with their tune Blues Concerto! Who else are we gonna hear from? How about the late great Sean Costello, Can’t Let Go; Janiva Magness, That’s What Love Will Make You Do; Watermelon Slim and the Workers, Blues for Howard; Albert Castiglia, Bad Year Blues; Kenny Neal, Let Life Flow; Marcia Ball, Watermelon Time; Magic Slim, Black Tornado; The Mannish Boys, Chocolate Drop; Keith Crossan, Turk’s Groove; The Jackie Payne Steve Edmondson Band, No Money, No Honey; Cedric Burnside and Lightnin’ Malcolm, R.L. Burnside; Robin Rogers, Color-Blind Angel; Michael Burks, Love Disease; and finishing up the show with Willie “Big Eyes” Smith playing Tell Me Mama!
A special thank you always goes out to
Michael Allen and the Crossroads Blues
